Service Point of Contact for Active Duty Service Members

The service point of contact (SPOC) is a person or uniformed services office responsible for coordinating civilian health care for TPR-enrolled active duty service members. Department of Defense (DoD) SPOCs are members of the armed forces (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard) stationed at the Military Medical Support Office (MMSO). United States Public Health Service (USPHS) and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) SPOCs are members of the Beneficiary Medical Program Office.

The SPOC reviews requests for specialty and inpatient care to determine how it might affect your fitness for duty. If the care affects fitness for duty, then the SPOC will decide if you should receive that care at an MTF or from a civilian provider. The SPOC will make this determination based upon current service-specific guidelines and clinical standards, and will ensure your medical care related to your fitness-for-duty condition is covered.

TPR and TPRADFM provide enhanced benefits and personalized care. Look online or the mail for the TRICARE Health Matters newsletter, a regular publication for all TRICARE Prime beneficiaries—including TPR and TPRADFM enrollees. This publication highlights covered services, customer service options, news, and important updates.

Note: The TRICARE Global Remote Overseas (TGRO) program is distinct from and should not be confused with TPR or TPRADFM. TGRO improves access to the TRICARE Prime health care benefit for active duty service members and their family members who are assigned to overseas duty stations in designated remote locations where MTFs are not available. Under this program, the contractor coordinates, provides health care services, and pays claims for active duty sponsors and family members who are enrolled. For more information about TGRO, call toll-free 1-888-777-8343.
