Humana Military Healthcare Services Hosts Third Annual Military and Veterans Case Management Conference on Challenges Faced by Service Members
         

Emphasis on bringing together nurses, case managers and other health care providers to assist service members in their recovery         

LOUISVILLE, KY — October 28, 2008— Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) – Humana Military Healthcare Services, TRICARE contractor for the South Region, is hosting its third annual Military and Veterans Case Management Conference, October 29-30, at the Veteran’s Hospital Uptown Campus in Augusta, Georgia. 

This year’s conference will emphasize how nursing and social work case managers can successfully collaborate with other health care providers in assisting service members during their recovery.  Focus for the conference will include topics such as post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and amputation injuries.

Presenters for the conference include:
  • Donald Meichenbaum, Ph.D, an international expert on PTSD for over 25 years who has repeatedly consulted with the Pentagon and VA, as well as with foreign governments
  • Dr. Dennis Hollins, Director of the Active Duty Rehab Unit (Spinal Cord Injuries) at Veteran’s Center
  • Susan Johnson, Director of Brain Injury at the world famous Shepherd Center
  • Dr. Charles H. Roadman II, MD, Lt General, USAF, MC (Retired), Dr. Roadman’s military career includes serving as the U.S. Air Force Surgeon General and on the 2007 Independent Review Group on Rehabilitative Care and Administrative Processes at Walter Reed Army Medical Center and National Naval Medical Center
